Chef Malik Fall is aiming to open 1230 at 1230 9th St. NW. by the end of February. The 4500 square foot restaurant will span two floors and have a lounge and whiskey bar. There will also be a 1000 square foot deck with a retractable roof.
Fall describes his style of cooking as French and American Nouveau. Some of the proposed menu items include Earl Grey tea-cured salmon, fennel-dusted sweet breads, roasted venison, and squid ink linguine. The restaurant plans to work with regional farms and purveyors like Path Valley Farms, Goot Essa Cheese, Smucker Farms, and more.
The chef has worked at Le Bernardin and Del Posto in New York and La Tour D'Argent and Restaurant Guy Savoy in Paris. He was also a contestant on Food Network's Chopped.
