Sloppy Mama's plans to serve its barbecue at Sauf Haus on Friday nights this January and February.
The two restaurant owners got to know each other through a chance encounter at a catering gig, Sloppy Mama owner Joe Neuman told Eater. They started talking about the possibility of collaborating because of the ties between German food and barbecue in Texas (central Texas was settled by German immigrants, so many early pit masters there were German, he says).
The bar will offer dishes like brisket and pork sandwiches, as well as sides like potatoes, sauerkraut and pickles (Sauf Haus's pretzels will still be available). They're going to see how it goes and expand the menu depending on what's successful. Find Sloppy Mama's at Sauf House from 4-10 p.m.
