Legal woes

The Washington Post has some backstory on the recent reopening of Johnny’s Half-Shell in Adams Morgan. The former Capitol Hill location owed more than $200,000 in back rent taxes and ended up voluntarily surrendering the property. They opened the new one carrying about $400k in debt, but with plenty of optimism. [WaPo]

Get crabby

Stone crab fiends, know this: they have the claws over at BlackSalt in the Palisades right now.

Brain freeze

Saunter over to Eater.com, where they have a brief history of 7-Eleven’s slurpee. The frozen treat’s been around since the 60s. Expect to see more “lite” options in the future. [E]

Creative cocktailing

Spotted: some fun cocktail menu themes around town right now. Left Door has a list of “Stranger Things”-themed drinks, from the Eleven to the Demogorgon. And Yona, meanwhile, is rocking a “Karate Kid” theme right now, including this one called The Crane in honor of the shape of its garnish:

What other name than "The Crane" could this new cocktail have? Soju, grapefruit, 5-spice, & cava brut with this perfect garnish. Check out our #karatekid themed cocktails today! #thecrane
