Crisp Kitchen + Bar’s Beloved Chicken is Missing

The stuffed toy has been taken from the Bloomingdale bar

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

Someone has stolen Crisp Kitchen + Bar’s chicken, and the search is on to get him back.

Several stuffed chickens have decorated the front window of the Bloomingdale bar and restaurant (which is known for its chicken sandwich and hot chicken dinners) since the restaurant opened. Owner Jamie Hess has even decorated the chickens to create holiday window displays. When preparing to work on his latest one for Halloween, he noticed that one of the chickens had gone missing.

"At first I got mad," Hess told Eater. "There’s no value to it. Why would you take a stuffed chicken. If you’re a parent, you’re stealing; if you’re a drunk customer, what are you going to do with it? But then I thought, you know what, I’m going to have fun with this."

So Hess made up some fliers and is hanging them out throughout the neighborhood in an attempt to get the chicken back, whose name is Dale Bloomington (hence the restaurant’s #finddale hashtag on social media). Hess will even buy the would-be thief a free chicken dinner if it’s returned.
