Cash infusion

Talk about some major funding. Fast-casual pizza chain &pizza just got a $25 million cash infusion from a financing round from venture capitalists. They’ll use it to further expansion efforts. [WBJ]

‘Pizza Gate’ continues with consequences

The alt-right “Pizza Gate” theory that Comet Ping Pong is the center of some sort of Clinton-affiliated pedophiliac sex ring (yes, this is an actual fringe theory) is having consequences for the D.C. pizzeria. Washington City Paper follows up with the ownership, which has been plagued by Facebook harassers and had its Yelp page shut down for cleanup. Owner James Alefantis says some people are lifting photos of children from his personal social media accounts to use on chat rooms, and sending him harassing messages. [WCP]

Changes at the Drafthouse?

The Arlington Cinema ‘N’ Drafthouse may dabble in showing first-run movies in the summer months. The Arlington food, drink, and entertainment venue is considering shaking up its format since changes in media have made second-run movie theaters less appealing to audiences when they can rent and stream films earlier. The venue is also doing some cosmetic changes. [ARLNOW]
