Party all night long
Here’s your annual public service announcement: head out to the bars tonight, and stay out even later than usual. D.C.’s beverage control board allows bars to apply to stay open until 4 a.m. More than 150 bars got the clearance — Washingtonian has a full list. [Washingtonian]
Hidden curry
Here’s a fun find — Washington City Paper discovers they’re selling curry lunch plates out of the longtime Hershey’s Ice Cream space near McPherson Square. Two curries and rice is only $6.50. Verdict from writer Laura Hayes is...they’re so/so. [WCP]
A quandry
So could restaurant Maggiano’s have legally refused to serve the white nationalists who booked the restaurant earlier this week? Experts tell Washington Business Journal “yes,” (though Maggiano’s has said in a statement that the group didn’t use its name when making a reservation). The event generated protests after attendees were seen on social media doing the “Sieg Heil” salute, and the restaurant apologized for the incident. [WBJ]
Expansions
Cafe and bookstore Kramerbooks has a new owner, and they’re expanding into the space next door. Expect even more first dates to head to the Dupont Circle favorite. The owner’s name, Steve Salis, may sound familiar — he was a founder of omnipresent pizza restaurant group &pizza. [WaPo]
