She came back. First Lady Michelle Obama made a return visit to RPM Italian, a rep confirms. She dined with four friends, and ordered such menu items as the Wianno oysters, white truffle risotto, Bistecca Fiorentina, and the tableside Torta Meringata, among other dishes. Ivy City takes a turn for the precious with the pending opening of Sip & Dry, which is a blow dry bar with craft cocktails. It will open Dec. 13 at Hecht Warehouse, and has cutesy pairings like a Brazilian Blowout coupled with a Caipirinha cocktail.

Cuba Libre and Castro

How does a Cuban restaurant mark the death of the country’s longtime dictator? In Cuba Libre’s case, they’re going the free cocktail route. The restaurant is offering free rum and coke ‘Original’ Cuba Libre cocktails to customers who say, “Viva Cuba” up until Fidel Castro’s funeral on Sunday, Dec. 4 (limit one per day). They also have an extended happy hour from 4-7 p.m., and plan to exclusively screen news coverage of Castro’s death with closed captioning during happy hour, in an attempt to encourage political discussion.
