SHAW—Fast-casual Mediterranean eatery Cava Grill will open its anticipated Shaw location on Dec. 20, offering free meals from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and accepting donations to nonprofit partner City Blossoms. Regular hours will start Dec. 21. [EaterWire]

MULTIPLE LOCATIONS—&Pizza is getting into the holiday spirit with pizza boxes, dressed up to look like presents (which is what pizza truly is, right?) They were designed by local artist CHELOVE (Cita Sadeli.) [EaterWire]

SHAW—Hazel Restaurant is offering a duck-heavy take-out meal for pre-holiday dining: the Grab-and-Go Duck Dinner. Think mu-shu duck with pancakes and duck confit fried rice (along with fortune cookies and a bottle of Fire Panda.) It serves 2-4, is available for pick-up on Dec. 23 (ordering up until the 22nd) and costs $60. Yes, it does come with reheating instructions. [EaterWire]

SHAW—In other holiday countdown news, Espita Mezcaleria has a “Mezcal Advent Calendar,” with special deals on six ounce pours of mezcal offered from Dec. 26-Jan. 1 (so not during actual Advent, to clarify). Deals include slashed prices on rare mezcals (on Dec. 29, for example, $90 La Venenosa Puntas is priced at $54), with two deals offered each day. [EaterWire]

GEORGETOWN—Jardenea in the Melrose Hotel has a new happy hour, and it’s all about the sevens. Find $7 appetizers, cocktails and even valet parking from 5-7 p.m. Plus, parties of seven or more get 7 percent off dinner items. [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN—Buche de Noel fans, here’s somewhere to find it. Order the classic from Woodward Takeout Food (allow 48 hours in advance), as well as homemade gingerbread houses for $49.99. [EaterWire]

ADAMS MORGAN—Find a whole new slate of hot cocktails on the roof at Jack Rose (which is heated and glass-enclosed for the winter. Cocktails like Chai My Buns and Chocolate Without Borders will all be priced at $10 during the season. DOWNTOWN—The Occidental has some fun throwback dishes planned for Thursday evenings in December.
