The Shutter
Ocopa’s shutter on H Street is permanent. Eater confirmed the closure with a rep for the former Peruvian restaurant. Meanwhile, PoPville has some intel on what is replacing it: a Swiss-American restaurant called stable. [E, PoP]
Additionally, “female-friendly” steakhouse STK is closing after Dec. 17 in Dupont Circle. That particular space has seen a number of restaurants shutter over the years, and STK faced some criticism throughout its tenure for its gender-stereotyping theme. [Washingtonian]
Expansions
Look out, Los Angeles: Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken is coming for you. The D.C. doughnut shop has signed a lease in the California city: here’s more from Eater LA. [ELA]
One way to get a Rose’s rez
Can’t stomach the lines at Rose’s Luxury? Buy a gift card for the holidays, some of which will include the option of making a reservation. Though this morning, it looks like only the $300 option is still available. Don’t expect this to be a sign of a permanent reservation policy to come, though. [Washingtonian]
Switcheroos
Two Kimpton Hotels in Alexandria are being sold: the Hotel Monaco and the Morrison House hotel. That means the future of their restaurants, including Jackson 20 and the new Ashlar, is unclear. [WBJ]
In other sales-related news, the owners of amusingly-named kabob house Meat in A Box in Falls Church and Adams Morgan are stepping away from the business. The restaurant will remain open, though. [FB]
Controversies
José Andrés Tweeted asking president-Elect Donald Trump to settle their legal battle over D.C.’s Trump Hotel project, and donate the funds to a local Veterans NGO. The normally Twitter-happy Trump has not responded. [Twitter, E]
Mr. @realDonaldTrump can we end our lawsuits and we donate $ to a Veterans NGO to celebrate? Why keep litigating? Let's both of us win..
