The Shaw Bijou’s Member-Only Bar Isn’t Happening

The bar will be completely reserved for walk-ins

Still more changes are here for 2016 hotspot The Shaw Bijou.

The restaurant confirmed last week that it would be allowing walk-ins to its second floor bar, who could sample cocktails and small bites at the tasting menu-centric restaurant. Today, the restaurant expanded on that plan in a press release. Now, the entire second floor bar will be devoted to walk-in customers (there are 40 seats there), with operating hours of Tuesday-Saturday from 5:30 p.m. until midnight. The goal is to cater to attendees unable to get a reservation at the restaurant, the release says.

That means original plans for the bar to be a members-only private club have been nixed. A rep confirmed that decision Thursday.

The bar will offer $14-$17 cocktails and food items starting at $14, as announced last week. Some of the initial offerings include carrots with pesto, peanuts and lime; a shrimp chips dish with avocado, pistachio and black lime; a seared foie gras dish with lobster marmalade and charred pineapple, and a roasted lamb head.
