COLUMBIA HEIGHTS—Beloved neighborhood joint Kangaroo Boxing Club is closing but they’re going out with a bang — an Orange Bowl game screening on Dec. 30 and a final New Year’s Eve Back on the 31st. U STREET—Chix is closing its original 11th St. NW location — the lease is expiring and they’re not going to renew. The two other D.C. locations (Thomas Circle and Navy Yard) are staying open, and the delivery radius is widening to avoid any lapse in service. [EaterWire]

LOGAN CIRCLE—Barcelona Wine Bar was closed yesterday, Dec. 19 — the water heater was malfunctioning, the restaurant’s PR team said in a statement to Eater. Department of Health inspectors were on the premises during plumbing repairs in the basement, and “there were roaches observed.” Barcelona stresses that there were no food contamination issues, and they have been reopened since 4pm today. MULTIPLE LOCATIONS—Shake Shack has added two important things to their menu: gluten-free buns and prosecco. The GF bun can be had on any sandwich for a dollar extra; the prosecco is $15 for a half bottle. Available at all DC-area locations. [EaterWire]

ROCKVILLE & MANASSAS—Medium coffees are free at two area Dunkin’ Donuts locations — 1800 Rockville Pike and 7797 Centreville Road — tomorrow, December 20, from 5am until the coffee (err, supplies) runs out. [EaterWire]

BROOKLAND—Republic Kolache has introduced a sweet new treat: a cinnamon roll kolache. It uses the shop’s standard kolache dough combined with cinnamon, cream cheese, pecans and an orange glaze. The Brookland bakers are also now offering Christmas-day deliveries of fresh goods. [EaterWire]
