Potomac Pizza, at 625 Center Point Way in Kentlands Market Square in Gaithersburg, will shut down next month. It will reopen as a full-service Potomac Village Deli, which has operated as a catering service since 1975.
The pizzeria will close March 14 and reopen in mid-April as the new concept. Founder Sam Lerner and business partner Adam Greenberg are planning a complete redesign of the interior, with seating for up to 70 people. Later, they plan to construct a patio with seating for about 30.
The new storefront will be open every day of the year and sell deli sandwiches with fresh sliced meats, homemade matzo ball soup, and hand-sliced lox, homemade cheesecake and bagels from Bagels 'n Grinds. The deli counter will offer salads and deli meats.
The pizza and calzones from Potomac Pizza will be served at the deli after 4 p.m. The Traville Potomac Pizza location will handle deliveries for the former location's delivery zone.
