The Sheppard, the speakeasy operated by Spike Mendelsohn in Dupont Circle, will reopen in its original location March 15 — at least, for a time.

The Sheppard returns to 1337 Connecticut Ave. NW with cocktails from David Strauss. They'll serve classic cocktails and some custom drinks as well. Operating hours will be Sunday-Thursday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.

The bar will operate for a limited time (until sometime in the summer) because the restaurant's lease has been extended for a few months until a new project comes in. Mendelsohn is also involved with another cocktail bar, Morris, opening at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
