Inside Declaration, D.C.'s Presidential Pizza Destination

Thomas Jefferson would be proud.

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

The team behind Lincoln and Teddy & The Bully Bar continue to salute America's presidents with the addition of Declaration, scheduled to open Saturday.

This new offering from PRG Hospitality has 52 seats and a big pizza oven that will dish out pies (including 13 special ones representing the original colonies). Another quirk: the restaurant is 1776 square feet in size (get it?). The restaurant's design comes from artists Matt McMullen and Howard Connelly.

Inside: a big bronze chandelier that hung in the Maryland State House in Annapolis for more than 25 years. Quotes and murals on the walls also invoke the Jeffersonian theme.
