Sloppy Mama's is moving to D.C.
Owner Joe Neuman tells Eater they're shutting down the cafe in Chantilly and moving their barbecue operation to two different new spaces. All the smoking will be done at Mess Hall, and the food truck and catering will operate out of Solly's Tavern at 1942 11th St. NW.
Eventually they'll offer a barbecue menu at Solly's. Expect items like brisket, pork, and chicken wings. Their target date for full service is March 1.
Before then, Sloppy Mama's will do a pop-up at Solly's on February 12-14. Hours will be 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 12 p.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Neumann also says their pop-up at Sauf Haus will continue every Friday night through February.
Their food truck will also start serving lunches in D.C. starting in March. Tysons Corner will remain the only stop in Virginia, and they'll also continue to work with catering customers in Fairfax and Arlington. "Other than that, we're D.C. all the way now," says Neuman.
