The team behind the city's upcoming Trump Hotel says the project will open in fall 2016, ahead of its original deadline.

The hotel is opening in the historic Old Post Office building downtown (its agreement with the government had it opening by 2018). The project has been a source of some controversy locally from the restaurant perspective, with chefs such as José Andrés and Geoffrey Zakarian pulling out of plans to open there following Donald Trump's controversial comments regarding immigrants. Lawsuits regarding those agreements are still pending.

BLT Prime restaurant, though, is slated to debut at the property. Eater reached out to find out when it will open and whether any restaurants are slated to join it. But a rep said they had no additional information to share.

A September opening is the target for the multi-million dollar hotel, which will have 263 guest rooms and suites.
