Sad news for jazz fans: U Street institution Bohemian Caverns will close its doors at the end of the month.
The club's lease is ending and its relationship with the landlord has grown hostile, according to a report from The Washington City Paper, which delves into the club's long and storied history (as well as its problems). There are no plans for the business to move elsewhere.
A jazz club has operated in the space over 90 years under various names. The restaurant and nightclub associated with the business at 2001 U St. NW.
