Alta Strada opens today inside the City Vista development at 465 K St. NW. It's the third D.C. restaurant from chef Michael Schlow of The Riggsby and Tico fame.
Chef Michael Zentner, a Boston transplant, is overseeing the kitchen. Expect Italian favorites like antipasti, fresh pastas, and entrees inspired by Schlow's travels. Highlights include grilled octopus with chickpeas, tagliatelle Bolognese, and maltagliati with rabbit and fava beans. There will also be thin-crust pizzas that Schlow calls a cross between New York, Rome, and Naples.
The space seats 75, and the design by Edit Lab is meant to evoke an urban Italian trattoria. The restaurant is opening only for dinner service right now but plans to add weekday lunch and weekend brunch. There are also plans to open a separate crudo bar (to be called Conosci) and patio later this spring.
