M.E. Swing Co. Coffee Roasters (or Swing's, as it's affectionately known) is closing up shop on G Street, at least for now.
The company announced on Facebook that its last day at the location will be March 25. After which, they'll close for at least 14 months at 1702 G St. NW, due to circumstances related to the building's renovations. "Early in 2017 we will begin the process of rebuilding Swing's at G Street into a world-class coffeebar. In the interim, we are also actively pursuing other locations for Swing's to set up shop."
The coffee shop has been beloved by office workers in the neighborhood since it opened in 1994. "It has been a pleasure keeping G Street and the surrounding area fully caffeinated...A special thank you to every staff member of Swing's G Street, their efforts have moved Swing's to the forefront of DC's coffee culture, keeping Swing's relevant leading up to our 100 year anniversary," shop reps said on Facebook. The company, which has its home base in Del Ray, got its start in 1916.
