1) "Mean Girls" at the Cat Cafe

What: Exactly what it sounds like. Crumbs & Whiskers, D.C.'s cat cafe, is hosting a screening of "Mean Girls" (tickets are $25). There's another one later in the month, too.

When: Saturday at 6:45 p.m.

2) Whiskey Tasting at Boss Shepherd's

What: Four Roses master distiller Brent Elliott will be on hand for this tasting.

Where: Boss Shepherd's, 513 13th St. NW

When: Friday 6-8 p.m.

3) Grammar Day at Pizzeria Paradiso

What: The pizza and beer destination is celebrating beers with creative names (particularly those involving puns). Think Mikkeller's Get Wit or Die Trying.

Where: Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont, 2003 P St. NW

When: All day Friday

4) Kids' Culinary Class at Trummer's

What: Trummer's kicks off its series of kid-oriented culinary classes with its first one, which is an introductory course involving knife skills, pasta salad, safety and more. They're priced $24 each or $120 for the set.

Where: Trummer's on Main, 7134 Main St., Clifton, Va.

5) Absinthe Class

What: Mixologists Chantal Tseng and Dan Searing host this class on the history and use of absinthe.

Where: Petworth Citizen's Reading Room, 829 Upshur St. NW

When: Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
