DUPONT CIRCLE— PoPville heared the rumor earlier today that Sophie's Cuban is closing. A former rep for the restaurant confirmed to Eater that it will close, but had no further information; Borderstan talked to the owner who confirmed the closure will happen by March 25. U STREET— Philly-based Pizzeria Vetri is inching closer towards a D.C. opening. Washington Business Journal reports Vetri Family Restaurant Group has applied for a permit to open in a new mixed-use building at 2221 14th St. NW. UPDATE: A June opening is planned. [WBJ]

DUPONT CIRCLE— Boderstan reports a woman tried to taser a man and hit him with a metal chain after being told to leave Some Place Else at 1637 R St. NW. Police were called to intervene. [Borderstan]
