Someone crashed a car into the entrance of Dolcezza's factory and lab near Union Market early this morning (the second such incident this year).
A spokesperson for the restaurant said they are still waiting to confirm the cause of the accident and the status of the driver, who was taken to the hospital. "We're lucky that no one inside the factory was injured...it's too early to know what the new repairs timeline will be," the spokesperson said. The retail portion of the gelato factory was actually already closed for repairs, though gelato production was continuing as usual.
The first accident of a similar nature occurred in January. "We really hope that some action will be taken to make the intersection in front of our building a safer one — especially for pedestrians and cyclists sharing space with impatient motorists," the spokesperson said.
