First, the good news:
The U St. NW area is getting a new beer garden — and it's hellbent on being dog-friendly, reports Borderstan. In fact, the name reflects this focus: Wet Dog Tavern. It's coming to 2100 Vermont Ave. NW, and the opening date is sometime this summer. Raj Lal told Borderstan that he wants it to be a "relaxing neighborhood place," which will act as a foil to "what has become of the D.C. bar scene."
Now the interesting:
Also from Borderstan — the kind-of troubled Dacha is closed this week for renovations. The Shaw beer garden says it's renovating and just generally making the garden better. But it's also complying with an order from the D.C. Alcoholic Beveral Control Board, which suspended the bar's liquor license from today through this coming Sunday.
