An Ethiopian Restaurant Will Replace Jackie's, Plus More Intel

Mini news bites for the morning.

Jackie's Restaurant

Wall Street Journal endorsed

WSJ has some nice things to say about Bad Saint, which is held up as the symbolic arrival of Filipino cuisine on the national scene in this story. "...the native foods, beyond the "super-accessible" dishes like adobo and lumpia (a type of fried spring roll) have been relegated to households, yet the flavors have so much potential to go wide. The opening and runaway success of Bad Saint marks this potential finally actualized. And the owners have been left grateful, even stunned." [WSJ]

Jackie's replacement

An Ethiopian restaurant will fill in the space where Jackie's used to be in Silver Spring. Bethesda Magazine reports Balagger Restaurant & Bar (which also has a Falls Church restaurant) will open there. [BM]
