Bullfrog Bagels Will Not Be Served at Trump Hotel, Despite Hotel Chef's Tweet

Controversy again plagues the D.C. project

Oliver Beckert, the chef who is overseeing culinary operations at the upcoming Trump Hotel in D.C., Tweeted that the hotel will be serving bagels from D.C.-based Bullfrog Bagels at the property. UPDATE: The tweet has since been deleted, but here is a screenshot from Instagram:

But the owner of Bullfrog Bagels says that isn't happening. Owner Jeremiah Cohen tells Washington City Paper, "That is bullshit." A representative from the hotel came by for samples, he said, but that was the extent of their interaction. "Only if Trump makes amends for his bigotry and all these other reprehensible comments that he's made, just maybe Bullfrog would sell to them," he told the publication.

Eater has reached out to Bullfrog Bagels, as well as the hotel, for comment.

The Trump Hotel project has been plagued by controversy. Both chef Jose Andres and Geoffrey Zakarian pulled out of projects there, and are now in the midst of lawsuits regarding their decision. A BLT Prime will open at the hotel.
