Go Under the Sea at Whaley's, Opening Monday

Photos of the Navy Yard raw bar from the DGS team

Whaley's will be the newest addition to the Navy Yard neighborhood, beginning Monday.

The raw bar is opening within The Yards development with a design from Edit Lab at Street Sense. There's a tall, glass facade, an ocean-inspired mural with sea creature designs (called "Under the Sea" from artist John DeNapoli), water-inspired framed art, and a central bar. Eventually, a patio will open.

Chef Daniel Perron will prepare such dishes as shellfish towers, crudos, crab salad, soft-shell crab, and more. Brian Zipin is handling the beverage program for the restaurant, which is from the same owners as DGS Delicatessen. They'll first open for dinner, with plans to eventually add lunch and brunch.
