Fans of chef Tony Conte's serious cooking at restaurants like The Oval Room will get a chance to experience that style of cuisine at a new pop-up series he's planning at his Maryland pizzeria.

The chef will host four dinners (which he's calling "pop-ins") at Inferno Pizzeria Napoletana in Gaithersburg. They'll have seatings at the restaurant's counter and communal table, giving the chef and his colleagues (he works with several Oval Room veterans at Inferno) the chance to dabble again in fine dining. The events are scheduled for May 19 and 20, and June 28 and 29. Oval Room vet Duane Shand will be on hand for the May dinners, while chef Alex Talbot (Ideas in Food) will guest during June.

The pop-ups are priced $65 per person, with wine pairings available for $35. Expect dishes like spring pea soup, octopus with njuda (spreadable sausage), and more.
