Aaron Silverman, chef behind the decorated and popular Capitol Hill restaurant Rose's Luxury, has been named Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic region, according to this year's James Beard Awards.

The chef behind the celebrated Capitol Hill restaurant Rose's Luxury beat out three Philadelphia chefs, Baltimore-based Cindy Wolf (Charleston), and fellow local chef Peter Chang for the award. Bread Furst's Mark Furstenburg was also a local nominee in the Outstanding Baker category — Boston's Joanne Chang took home the win there.

It's the second time in three years D.C. has won the Mid-Atlantic category. While Baltimore's Spike Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen (currently planning a D.C. project) won in 2015, Rasika's Vikram Sunderam triumphed in 2014.

It's been a big year for Silverman. While Rose's Luxury has continued to be embraced by critics and D.C. crowds, he also opened the dual-concept Pineapple & Pearls in the same neighborhood. That restaurant operates as a cafe and coffee shop by day and a $250/per person tasting menu-centric destination by evening.

Eater has the full list of winners here, and was live-blogging the event last night.
