The Atlas Room closed permanently on Saturday night, according to H Street Great Street.

Chef and owner Matt Cordes apparently has plans to reopen a new concept in the same location at 1015 H St. NE. Eater has reached out for more information, but there's currently this message on the restaurant's website:

"Neighborhood friends and patrons, The Atlas Room is in for a change! We are currently working on something special for H street, and are moving quickly to complete our reservations. Please stay tuned and look for our relaunch at the end of the month! A sincere THANK YOU to all for supporting The Atlas Room!

The eclectic restaurant, with dishes ranging from Indian chickpea fritters to lamb Bolognese, was a favorite among critics when it opened in 2010. Tom Sietsema of the Washington Post once called it "the most ambitious kitchen on H Street NE."
