Savor Comes to Town, Plus More Intel

Mini news bites for the morning

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

Drink all the beer

This is a reminder that Savor's in town this weekend. Beyond the official ticketed event, plenty of bars are getting in on the action with their own festivities, like The Black Squirrel and Pizzeria Paradiso. DC Beer has more details. [Official Site/DC Beer]

Yikes — a customer at El Ranchero Migueleno in Arlington tried to stop another customer from skipping out of the check. After chasing him, he ended up getting his legs run over by the suspect fleeing the scene. [ARLNOW]

Picnic intel

Headed to Wolf Trap? Why not spice up the evening with some DGS Delicatessen? DCRefined offers some restaurant picnic options for the popular outdoor venue. [DCR]

Trash talk

Chefs Scott Drewno and Danny Lee are clearly smack-talking each other over their sandwich battle at G. Drewno cheekily named his bacon steak and cheese "Danny Lee's Favorite," while Lee's fried chicken concoction is called "Drew-No Chance".

Book Club

The latest cookbook from an area culinary destination will feature recipes from Red Truck Rural Bakery, out in further-flung Warrenton and Marshall, Virginia. D.C. food writer Nevin Martell will collaborate on the project, which is being published by Random House / Clarkson Potter. The bakery made headlines earlier this year by getting a nod from the White House on Pi Day.
