D.C. gets another live entertainment venue when Buckeye + Bear opens this weekend at 1730 M St. NW.
The 280-person venue comes from the team behind Ryan Seelbach and Eric Lund (the co-owners of Takoda), and the design is by Edit Labs. The layout consists of two distinct areas.
The Ballroom, with a stage backdrop constructed from vintage speakers, will host local and regional bands, comedy shows, karaoke, and trivia. The color scheme incorporates both purple and red. There's banquette-style seating with dining tables line the walls, while lounge-style couches are in the center.
The more intimate Green Room has a sports bar vibe complete with six large flat-screen TVs, 22 seats at the bar, seven booths, and two standing tables. The venue plans to serve beers on draft and offer a menu of barbecue items.
