There have been multiple incidents of vandalism targeting the LGBT community near D.C. restaurants this week. A rainbow flag displayed outside of Bourbon in Adams Morgan has been burned, while a vandal also sprayed anti-gay remarks on the sidewalk outside of Thaiphoon earlier in the week. [WB]

Coming attractions

Room 11's Jessica Woods and Rachel Mowrer will open a market called Odd Provisions at 3301 11th St. NW (the name is an homage to Woods' quirky grandmother).  The corner market will have fresh produce, beer and wine, and both local and convenience products. They plan to collaborate with D.C. chefs on prepared food items, sandwiches, and more. Expect a late summer or early fall opening.

Barbecue 101 has an explainer of the barbecue terms all fans of smoked meat need to know. [E]
