The first level of Hail & Hog Kitchen and Tap, the new Redskins-themed restaurant in Ashburn, opened yesterday.
The entire 12,000-square-foot space, including the rooftop bar, will be accessible starting at 4 p.m. today. Patio seating will also be available during warmer weather.
Expect plenty screens for watching the games and a color scheme of burgundy leather and gold accents based on the team's colors. The walls are decorated with themed artwork and artifacts like the original signed contracts of some of their great players. There's even a broadcast studio for the Redskins to host radio and television shows from the restaurant.
The menu by chef James Wilson has a regional theme with some international touches. Find dishes like calamari with japaleños, lobster poutine, dry-aged Virginia ribeye, and, crab and lobster mac and cheese. Of course there's also a crab cake sandwich. The rooftop bar will have a separate menu based on pub fare like fried deviled eggs, nachos, and tacos.
The restaurant was originally slated to be named Redskins Grille, but was later changed, presumably as a result of the controversy surrounding the team's name.
