The team behind The Blaguard in Adams Morgan is opening the Homestead this Thursday at 3911 Georgia Avenue NW. The menu by executive chef Marty Anklam focuses on American comfort foods served family-style. Beer will be a major focus of the beverage program (expect about a dozen rotating brews on tap), along with ciders, wines, and seasonal cocktails.
The 4,000 square-foot space spans three floors and will seat 175 diners with 70 more seats available when the outdoor spaces are open. There's a main floor dining room and bar, a second-level mezzanine with an outdoor patio, and then another bar and patio on the third floor.
The restaurant is located inside a residential row house dating back to 1922. The rustic decor incorporates the structure's original woodwork and exposed brick walls, as well as reclaimed artwork from local sources. Anklam is also planning a rooftop garden for growing herbs and vegetables to use in the kitchen.
