Slim's Diner opened this morning in Petworth at 4201 Georgia Ave. NW. The modern diner comes from owner Paul Ruppert, also of Room 11, Petworth Citizen, Cappy's Crabs, and more.
The sparkling interior features exposed brick walls with huge windows overlooking the sidewalks. Also find tufted red booths and matching stools at the long white counter with black, blue, and white tiles beneath it.
The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and also have late night hours. Slim's is closing early at 4 p.m. today, but regular hours will be 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday an Saturday.
Despite the contemporary design, the menu is full of classic American diner dishes. Think blueberry pancakes, a Reuben sandwich (with turkey, corned beef, or veggie), an iceberg wedge salad, and milkshakes and floats. Check it out below:
