The Early Word on Fare Well, Atlas District's New Vegan Diner

Fare Well, the new vegan diner and bakery from Doron Petersan, opened last month on H Street. As the sister restaurant to Sticky Fingers, it serves up dishes like polenta biscuit sliders, pierogi, seitan and waffles, and fettucini mushroom scampi. Also find baked goods, boozy milkshakes, draft wine and beers, and cocktails.

How are diners responding to all the plant-based fare? The new restaurant already has 34 Yelp reviews with an overall rating of three and a half stars. Read on for the early word on Fare Well:

The Expertly Decorated Interior News: Brightest Young Things writes, "The space is narrow, with high ceilings, and is expertly decorated with vintage plates, posters, and kitchen equipment, all unearthed from thrift stores by Petersan herself, or handed down from her family." Zagat writes, "...Petersan designed this H Street spot with her trademark '50s sensibility — think old-school diner, complete with a 10-stool bar plus ’50s-style light fixtures and tiles." The A+ Cashew Burrata News: Yelper Daniel B. says, "Their homemade cheeses (Burrata for example) are really tasty. The Delicious Veggie Burger News: Brightest Young Things writes, 'Featuring a mushroom-chickpea patty, with walnuts and sunflower seeds, it’s topped with lettuce, tomato, and caramelized onions, then finished with a garlic aioli. The Amazing Chicken Fried Seitan News: Instagrammer @diyfoodie writes, "Seitan platter - country fried seitan, potato cake with gravy and steamed greens! The Goods Drinks News: Yelper Salim B. writes, "The two cocktails we tried were the Huddle and the Paloma. The Smallest Portion Ever News: Facebook user Teresa Blake ordered pasta and writes, "I might go back, but wouldn't bother ordering a large anything. I can honestly say it was the smallest portion I have ever been served in any restaurant."
