Is Petworth bistro Chez Billy closing its doors?
It's hard to pin down the exact status of the neighborhood restaurant right now. The news that the restaurant's closure was permanent was originally reported on neighborhood blog Petworth News, though details were few at the time. PoPville has received a statement from management Monday morning saying the closure is only temporary, and there were plans to reopen after Labor Day after a "vacation and decor refresh." UPDATE: Meanwhile, reps told DCist Monday afternoon that the space would be reopening "as a new concept." So the future of the restaurant space right now is unclear.
The restaurant has not responded to calls, Facebook messages or emails from representatives from Eater.
Chez Billy's sister location and its neighboring wine bar in Georgetown will remain open during the closure. That branch of the restaurant has been visited multiple times by the First Lady since opening in 2014.
