No, that is not a typo

Shake Shack is giving out free burgers next Tuesday. In honor of the chain’s 100th location, all local locations (save Nats Park) will open at 10:30 a.m. and give out free burgers to the first 100 guests. Knowing D.C.’s love of free food and willingness to wait in line, better get there pretty early to secure a sandwich.

Expansions

Soup and sandwich chain Newk’s Eatery is planning a significant expansion here. A franchise operator is planning several locations in Northern Virginia. [WBJ]

What’s in a category?

It’s coming

Here’s a reminder that Restaurant Week kicks off in D.C. on Monday.

Never mind

Those new owners for neighborhood bar and restaurant Caddie’s? Not happening. The restaurant has reopened under the same ownership after the deal fell through. [BM]
