Trump talk

D.C. chefs imagine what the city’s dining scene would be like under a Trump administration. Would it be a throwback to the staid D.C. power dinners of years ago? [FR]

The date is set

D.C.’s next distillery has an opening date. District Distilling is slated to debut Friday, Aug. 26 at 1414 U St. NW. They’ll open with a white rum, gin, vodka, and bourbon.

Signs of summer

It’s sweet corn season, and chefs just can’t help themselves. Zagat finds some fun ways D.C. restaurants are showcasing the ingredient, from a soft-shell elote at Restaurant Eve to a spin on donburi at Hazel. [Zagat]

So many Shake Shacks

He says, "Who ever wrote the rule that every link in the chain has to be exactly the same? That’s why the way that we wanted to redefine ‘chain’ was to say that yes, it is a chain, in the same way that DNA is a chain. There is a common DNA to every Shake Shack... On the other hand, they’re all a little bit different." [EB]
