Kebob stalking

There’s an opening date for the first area location of the Halal Guys. It’s headed to Springfield on September 2. Several other outposts of the chain are opening in the area. The first 100 people in line will get a free entree on opening day, and there will be other giveaways as well. The restaurant is opening at 6304 Springfield Plaza. UPDATE: A Dunn Loring location is also opening the same day.

Switcheroos

The owner of Mia's Pizzas in Bethedsa is moving on, but Mia's will remain. The restaurant's landlords (who also operate the Olazzo restaurants) are taking over the pizzeria even though the owner declined to renew its lease. The staff will stay on, and no major changes are planned. [BM]

Chef shuffles

News tidbit worth noting from Tom Sietsema's review of The Columbia Room: Minibar veteran Johnny Spero is going to be doing the food there.

Hangover brunch

The Passenger's popular former brunch service will start back up next Saturday. The bar opened in its new location last week.

Shack Attack

This week only, Shake Shack has a Roker Burger, a collaboration between the company and the Today Show personality. The burger has Niman Ranch barbecue pulled pork, American cheese, a red-eye mayo and pickles, and a portion of proceeds benefit No Kid Hungry.
