Two words: free tacos

There’s an opening date for Taco Bamba’s second location in Vienna: September 8. On that day, the first 100 people in line will get free tacos for a year. Victor Albisu’s taqueria is headed to 164 Maple Avenue West.

Expansions

Prepare for a second location of Navy Yard ice cream parlor Ice Cream Jubilee. The ice cream shop is headed to 1407 T St. NW. Expect some new flavors, sundaes, and more. Former tenant BakeHouse will still use the back of the house for wholesale baking.

And more expansions

Celebrity chef John Kunkel is taking a look at D.C. The chef is considering the area for one of his Yardbird restaurants, known for fried chicken and other Southern fare, according to Eater Vegas. [EV]

Potential comeback

Ping Pong Dim Sum may have appeared to have closed in Chinatown (including a disconnected number and removed OpenTable listing). But the restaurant says on Facebook that they’re coming back to the location and had closed "for technical reasons." Eater has reached out for any further info.
