An employee of Clarendon's coffee-and-wine destination Northside Social is helping to bring a similar concept across state lines in Takoma Park.
Takoma Beverage Company will be a new cafe selling hand-crafted coffee and tea, along with beer, wine, and cocktails prepared by trained baristas. The man behind the coffee program is Seth Cook.
Takoma Beverage Company will also offer breakfast sandwiches and pastries. In the afternoon, booze will join the mix, as will charcuterie, cheese, and smaller composed dishes, all prepared in-house. The 30-seat space will host a long bar and and open kitchen. An outdoor patio with seating will also look onto the tree-lined street, which also hosts Takoma Park's popular Takoma Park Farmers Market.
Construction is underway, with an opening slated for late 2016 or early 2017. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday to Thursday and 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
This should fill the unmet need in Takoma for cafe concepts open early and late with wide craft beverage selections and light fare, says Old Takoma Business Association executive director Laura Barclay.
