It’s opening day for the first local outpost of Colorado-based Modern Market. The chain debuts in Bethesda today at 4930 Elm Street.

Modern Market, which has been around since 2009, focuses on healthy dishes and whole ingredients. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with plenty of vegetables incorporated into each dish. For the morning meal, there are egg platters, scrambles, whole grain waffles, and egg sandwiches (no nitrates in the breakfast meats). Lunch includes soup and salad fare, plus balanced platters with protein, vegetables, and a starch. There are pizzas (available in half sizes) and flatbreads, too. Menu items are all priced around $10.

The restaurant has options for vegan, gluten-free, and younger diners as well. The restaurant works with local farms, too. Another location is bound for 1010 Vermont Ave. NW, along with a Rockville location as well, according to the company’s website.
