Chef Shuffles

Equinox has a new pastry chef in Cynthia Ruane. The chef recently worked for PRG Hospitality, and also has had gigs with Ridgewells Catering, Cork Market, Chef Geoff’s restaurant group, and the Clyde’s restaurant group. She replaces Eddy Teixeira.

Expansions

WaPo has a really interesting read on the owners behind the new dim sum restaurant, Da Hong Pao. Jerry Chen is also behind mainstay Yum’s Carryout next door, which has seen 14th Street go through major changes. [WaPo]

Coming Attractions

The permanent replacement for Crane & Turtle (and temporary summer restaurant Cappy’s Crabs) is now known. Himitsu, from Carlie Steiner and Kevin Tien, will serve "New Japanese" cuisine, and could arrive by mid-October. [WCP]

Beer Here

DC Beer has a lengthy post on the state of the beer scene in D.C. "One thing is clear, no matter your (or my) take on it: the DC beer scene isn’t going anywhere. Are there things that could be improved? Certainly. Are there things to be excited about? Equally certain." [DCB]
