1) ADAMS MORGAN: PoPville reports that construction is progressing on Villa Tuscana, an Italian restaurant that will fill at least a portion of the former Chief Ike’s Space at 1723 Columbia Road NW. Word of the project first came to light last December. No specifics on opening date yet, though. [PLYWOOD]
2) DOWNTOWN: Sushi Gakyu will open at 1420 New York Ave. NW. The chef is behind Yuzu in Bethesda, according to Borderstan. Expect plenty of sushi and sashimi at the restaurant, and ideally an opening by year’s end. [PLYWOOD]
3) NAVY YARD: Looks like a second location of popular coffee shop Slipstream is in the works. PoPville spots a liquor license application for a cafe at 82 I Street, SE. [PLYWOOD]
4) BLOOMINGDALE: A bar with a working darkroom? Why not. The Darkroom is in the works for 207 Florida Ave. NW, with plans for a photography studio along with charcuterie, drinks, and more. [PLYWOOD]
