Il Forno Closes in Ballston, Plus More Intel

Mini news bites for the morning

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

The shutter

Arlington has lost a pizza place and Italian restaurant. Il Forno has closed its doors at 900 N. Glebe Road. It had been around for about three and a half years. No word yet on what will replace it. That stretch of Glebe has been generally problematic for restaurants, with such places as Protein Bar and Pizza Vinoteca closing there after short stints. [FB, via ARLNOW]

Staff shuffles

3 Stars Brewing Company has a new head brewer. The brewery tweeted that Brandon "Milhouse" Miller, a veteran of Maryland’s DuClaw, has taken on the role.

Reopening report

Plume is back from summer break. The fine dining restaurant in the Jefferson hotel is back in business. The hotel also refreshed its Book Room.

Food TV seems to be endorsing reality show "Bachelor in Paradise," especially its breakout bartender contestant Jorge Moreno. They check in with a Q&A. [E]

Plywood Report

Looks like things are coming along for Bardo’s project near the ballpark:

Installing the brewery at the riverfront location next to Nats Stadium. Only a few more vessels and everything will be in place. Notice how the new fermentors are FOUR TIMES the size of the old fermentors.
