The region is about to get a bit more metallic. Silver Brand Family, the company behind Silver Diner and Silver, is planning a steady stream of 2-3 openings in the area each year.
Silver Diner locations are currently situated largely in the Central Maryland and Northern Virginia suburbs — with a location in Richmond as well as one in New Jersey, near Philadelphia. Silver is located on Woodmont Ave. in Bethesda.
Cathedral Commons is the next place to get a Silver — with opening planned for May 2017 — and the group behind the restaurants is currently looking for another location within an airport for a Silver Diner locale. Silver Brand Family are keeping mum for now on where these 2-3 yearly openings will be.
Silver Diner started as a throwback eatery — complete with on-table miniature juke boxes playing '50s hits — and has since transitioned into a kind of hybrid locavore/nouveau American cuisine restaurant. The menu boasts a "flexitarian" bent, with many menu items featuring small emblems to alert diners to their special characteristics (think: vegan, "heart healthy," under 600 calories.) Silver Diner has also shifted to depending on local farms and producers for their produce, spices, coffee and more.
