Washingtonian Names Pineapple and Pearls D.C.’s Best Restaurant

Washingtonian is teasing out the results from the 2017 edition of the 100 Very Best Restaurants, and restaurateur Aaron Silverman has skyrocketed to the top with his sophomore effort, Pineapple and Pearls.

The prix-fixe powerhouse has garnered praise near and far, popping up on don’t-miss lists from the likes of Washington Post critic Tom Sietsema and Bon Appetit.

Other upstarts muscling their way into the top 10 include Kinship (4), Tail Up Goat (6) and Sushi Taro (10).

There’s been considerable movement throughout the top 20 — the February issue is scheduled for release later this week — including the addition of seafood haven Whaley’s (12), the companion tasting room tucked beneath Kinship, Metier (14), and critically acclaimed pizza joint All-Purpose (15).

Notable disappearing acts include Convivial (number 4 last year), Plume (number 6 last year), Casa Luca (number 9 last year) and Izakaya Seki (number 10).
