The lights are scheduled to go out for good following dinner service Saturday at Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria e Bar in Bethesda, Md.
A member of the Patina Restaurant Group, Naples is helmed by Aggio and Range alum John Miele. According to his PRG bio, Miele began his culinary career at Aureole in New York CIty and later defeated Food Network personality Bobby Flay during a reality cooking competition.
At Naples, Miele focuses on traditional Italian fare, serving arancini and burrata appetizers alongside wood-fired pizzas and house-made pasta dishes.
A spokeswoman for PRG confirmed that the property would cease operating this weekend, but declined to elaborate on what had precipitated the sudden closure.
“Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria e Bar will close as of January 28 at the Westfield Montgomery Mall due to a mutual agreement on its lease,” management said in an official statement.
No word on what, if any, other restaurants might take over the high-profile space, or what chef Miele has planned next.
