Tierney: At Saturday night’s Sips & Suppers event at the Newseum — the annual fundraiser for DC Central Kitchen and Martha’s Table — I had dozens of delectable bites to choose from. One of the best was the spiced slow-cooked lamb with curry leaves and red chili from RASA, a new fast-casual Indian spot coming to Navy Yard. Stay tuned for more event highlights later today (like José Andrés perfectly-timed rants regarding immigration).
Warren: I had guests over for dinner and, as is typically the case, I went heavy on the hors d’ouevres. (“Well, what do you expect when there are three types of dip?” a partygoer, who said he barely had room for a main course of sausage and peppers, grumbled to his wife after indulging in a variety of spreads, dips and snacks.) The one thing I almost always set out: homemade pimento cheese — the rich and creamy delicacy I first developed a taste for at the original Bayou Bakery.
